Easy Flatbread

One of my favorite foods to eat is bread. Sourdough, whole grain, Tuscan, and flatbreads are all so delicious! This recipe inspired by King Arthur Baking is something that I often crave! My favorite way to enjoy this bread is dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, but I want to try making personal pizzas with it as well! I hope you enjoy this recipe as much as I do!

Ingredients:

- 3 cups all-purpose flour

- 2 tsp baking powder

- 1 and 1/2 tsp salt

- 3 tbsp olive oil or vegetable oil

- 1 cup cold water

- 1 and 1/2 tsp Italian seasoning (optional)

- cooking spray (olive or vegetable oil)

Directions:

  1. Mix together the dry ingredients in a mixing bowl (flour, baking powder, salt, and Italian seasoning).

  2. Add in the oil and water and mix the dough together. Add in additional water or flour if the dough is dry or sticky, respectively.

  3. Let the dough sit for 10 minutes.

  4. Heat a medium size, non-stick pan on the stove over medium heat.

  5. Divide the dough into about 8 sections (they should be between the size of a golf ball and baseball). Roll out each section of dough about 1/4 to 1/2 inch thick and coat each side lightly in cooking spray.

  6. Once your pan is hot, place the first flatbread in it. This is similar to cooking pancakes, the first one doesn't always turn out great (especially if you don't let the pan heat up)!

  7. Cook for about 2-3 minutes on each side, until golden brown. Be sure to check it occasionally so you don't burn it!

  8. Enjoy!

We have enjoyed these flatbreads by themselves, dipped in balsamic vinegar and olive oil, and as pita breads with falafel (without the Italian seasoning)! All of these are delicious!
